How is each film actually made?

Cast film starts as a liquid organosol that is spread onto a moving casting web and passed through ovens. The solvent leaves, the film cures, and because it was never stretched it has no memory of another shape. It comes off the line at the thickness it will always be.

Calendered film starts as a solid compound that is worked between heated rollers until it is squeezed to the required thickness. What is shrinkage and why does it ruin graphics?

What does the price difference look like on a real job?

Take a 24×36 inch decal, which is 6 square feet. In intermediate adhesive film at 3.74 dollars per square foot that is 22.44 dollars of material. In 3M IJ-35C at 4.49 it is 26.94.
